I wanted to share an important traffic update from the Florida Department of Transportation impacting Hallandale Beach in the coming days:

FORT LAUDERDALE -- Construction and maintenance-related lane closures on state highways in Broward County are expected during the two-week period of December 18 through January 1. In observance of the Christmas and New Year's holidays, lane closures have been suspended from Thursday, December 24 to Sunday night, January 3. 1. I-95 from the Golden Glades Interchange in Miami-Dade County to Broward Boulevard in Broward County

Traffic Impact:
Up to three northbound lanes of I-95 from the Golden Glades Interchange in Miami-Dade County to Sunrise Boulevard in Broward County will be closed Sunday, December 20 through Tuesday, December 22 between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Entrance and exit ramps will be closed as needed in the work zone between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Detours will be clearly marked and electronic signs will advise drivers in advance.


Up to three southbound lanes of I-95 from Sunrise Boulevard in Broward County to the Golden Glades Interchange in Miami-Dade County will be closed Sunday, December 20 through Tuesday, December 22 between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. At least two lanes will remain open at all times. Entrance and exit ramps will be closed as needed in the work zone between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Detours will be clearly marked and electronic signs will advise drivers in advance.
Two inside northbound lanes of I-95 between Hollywood Boulevard and Griffin Road will be closed from 11 p.m. Friday, December 18 until 1 p.m. Saturday, December 19 for paving. At least three lanes will remain open at all times.


The northbound Express Lane exit at NW 151st Street south of the Golden Glades Interchange will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, December 18 to 5 a.m. Saturday, December 19, for plastic pole repair. Drivers using the northbound express lanes from downtown Miami will exit at NW 151 Street.


The southbound Express Lane entrance just south of Ives Dairy Road will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, December 18 to 5 a.m. Saturday, December 19, for plastic pole repair. Drivers who want to use the southbound express lanes should enter south of the Golden Glades Interchange at NW 151st Street.


Description: This project will extend the High Occupancy Toll Express lanes from northern Miami-Dade County north 13 miles to Fort Lauderdale. The project includes installing Intelligent Transportation System components; modifying the Ives Dairy Road interchange; bridge widening at specific locations and installing new noise barrier walls at locations between Hollywood Boulevard and Taft Street. Cost/Completion: The construction cost is $120 million. Completion is expected spring 2016.

2. State Road A1A from Seacrest Parkway to the County Line Improvements in Hallandale Beach and Hollywood

Traffic Impact:
All lanes are open. This project has been completed.


Description: The improvements under this project include removing old asphalt and repaving with new asphalt within the project limits, upgrading signalization, installing stamped asphalt at pedestrian crosswalks, installing pedestrian countdown timers, installing "Share the Road" signage and pavement markings, and installing new mast arms.
